This 1 Thing: The Body Mist You Need In Your Gym Bag To Get Rid Of Bacne

You ever used a beauty product and it worked so well that you had to tell your friends and family about it ASAP? “This 1 Thing” is a bi-weekly series where I review one thing that I’ve tried and you’ll probably become obsessed with it, too.

Your girl (that’s me!) has been in the gym at OrangeTheory Fitness for five months. Prior to joining, I’d been an avid yogi and somewhat of a runner for most of my adult life. After hearing about OT’s cult HIIT classes, I knew I had to sign up!

So far, no regrets. But when I tell you that the combination of treadmill-rowing machine-and floor exercises with weights brings about a different kind of sweat, I tell you no lies.

Fun fact: I have never struggled with acne. I know. I consider myself lucky. But since doing HIIT workouts, I have noticed the occasional back acne that pops up mostly along my shoulders and mid-back. Wiping one’s skin off immediately post-workout can go a long way to minimize bacne and other body breakouts. However, my melanated skin easily blemishes and giving sexy back is what I’m all about.

So when the amazing team over at VERSED reached out to formally introduce me to the high-performance skincare brand and try out products with “no strings attached,” I thought this would be the perfect chance to test the Back-Up Plan Acne-Control Body Mist.

This body treatment contains three star skincare ingredients for treating acne: salicylic acid, tea tree oil and witch hazel. It comes packaged in an aerosol spray bottle and the instructions clearly state that it can be used pretty much from the neck down. Though with the rise in maskne, the brand also recommends spritzing it onto a clean face covering. Don’t you just love a good beauty hack?

What I like… The no-frills, effective ingredients that really work to kill bacteria and oil caused by sweat, dirt and whatever debris that’s lingering once I’ve picked myself up off the gym floor. The mister also emits just the right amount of product without drenching my skin and adding time I really don’t have to wait until it dries. No, this stuff dries down fast and doesn’t leave behind a film or make me feel sticky to the touch. The cooling effect is also a nice sensorial experience when I’m feeling clammy.

I’ve used VERSED Back-Up Plan Acne-Control Body Mist for a few weeks now and the handful of acne breakouts that were on my upper body and back are now gone. Seriously, gone! And there’s no unsightly hyperpigmentation that I have to worry about treating either.

What could be better… My one and only gripe about this product is that I’d like to see a future version with an ergonomic design that makes it even easier to hold in your hand or for individuals with different abilities. That small, yet significant detail will really take it up a notch.

Hey Beauties: Do you suffer with back acne or body breakouts? What treatments work best for you?
